All-New, All-Electric IONIQ 9

About The Hyundai IONIQ 9

Hyundai Motor Company has introduced the IONIQ 9, a three-row, all-electric SUV boasting a spacious interior that blends state-of-the-art design with pioneering electric vehicle (EV) technology.

IONIQ 9 emerges as a fresh option for customers in search of a three-row EV capable of accommodating up to seven passengers. It offers generous space and responsive features that cater to individual needs while fostering a sense of unity — it is genuinely ‘Built to Belong.’

IONIQ 9, showcasing Hyundai Motor’s steadfast dedication to electrification, will play a pivotal role in the company’s strategy to present a comprehensive lineup of EVs, aiming to launch 23 models by 2030.

This addition enhances the esteemed IONIQ lineup, following the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6, both of which were triple winners at the World Car of the Year Awards in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

Serene & Spacious Interior: An Unmatched EV Experience

IONIQ 9 delivers outstanding spaciousness with generous second- and third-row areas, ensuring an exceptional experience for both driver and passengers. Its interior design features elliptical elements and soothing tones, crafting a lounge-like ambiance. This creates a tranquil and organic sensation, particularly when bathed in natural light from the Panoramic Sunroof.

The Relaxation Seats in both the first and second rows can fully recline and include a leg rest for maximum comfort, enabling up to four individuals to relax while the vehicle charges, depending on the seating configuration. Additionally, IONIQ 9 offers an impressive 1,899 mm of headroom and 2,050 mm of legroom when the second and third rows are combined.

IONIQ 9’s Relaxation Seats boast Hyundai Motor’s pioneering Dynamic Body Care system, which includes a Dynamic Touch Massage function. This innovative system employs pressure and vibration to enhance blood circulation and alleviate fatigue during extended journeys.

IONIQ 9 also introduces second-row Swiveling Seats, enabling the second and third-row passengers to face each other when the vehicle is stationary. This reconfiguration feature boosts interaction and communication among passengers, offering yet another way to enjoy the vehicle’s distinctive space.

The SUV’s slidable Universal Island 2.0 console offers generous storage and facilitates a walk-through front-row seating arrangement, enhancing both accessibility and convenience. The bidirectional armrests can be opened towards the front and rear, allowing easy access to the console from the second row.

Universal Island 2.0 can be repositioned by up to 190 mm, making it easily accessible for passengers in the second row.

Sleek & Sophisticated Image: ‘Aerostethic’ Design

IONIQ 9’s sleek ‘aerosthetic’ exterior showcases Hyundai Motor’s dedication to merging aerodynamic innovation with sophisticated, futuristic design. The front design incorporates Parametric Pixels within the LED light units and lower fascia, crafting a distinctive and refined appearance. The expansive skid plate enhances the vehicle’s visual equilibrium by providing a low and wide stance.

IONIQ 9’s side silhouette is characterized by a smooth, single-curved roofline, forming a streamlined aerodynamic structure that achieves a low drag coefficient of merely 0.259 Cd when equipped with digital side mirrors.

The design profile is not the sole important factor; cooling resistance, balanced airflow over the underbody, and minimized wheel and tire resistance are also vital. To meet these requirements, a new dual-motion active air flap (AAF) system has been implemented for the first time. Additional aero-optimizing solutions include a 3D-shaped underbody cover, aerodynamic wheels, and concealed antennas.

Significantly, the IONIQ 9 marks the first Hyundai model to dispense with the roof antenna by distributing its functions across the windshield cover (for GPS and satellite radio), the instrument panel (for Connected Car Services), and the tailgate glass (for FM/AM and Digital Multimedia Broadcasting, or DMB), which contributes to its sophisticated and minimalist design.

The SUV is available in 16 exterior colours, featuring new shades like Celadon Gray Matte, Celadon ray Metallic, Ionosphere Green Pearl, Sunset Brown Pearl, and Cosmic Blue Pearl.

For the interior, colour choices include Obsidian Black and six distinctive two-tone options.
