Hyundai Is An Incredibly Reliable Brand And Here’s Why

When looking for a car to buy, whether brand-new or used, it is easy to get distracted by a vehicle’s looks, comfort levels, and more. However, while these factors are important in their own way, they must not cause you to ignore one of the most, if not the most, important factors of them all: reliability.

No car out there will leave you a happy driver when it is unreliable. Reliability is key to enjoyable, safe driving, and to no surprise, Hyundai has been praised by many due to its reliability.

That said, why is Hyundai known as a reliable brand? Let’s talk about that:

The Hyundai Company

Hyundai is based in South Korea and is one of the most popular brands in the world. They are one of the world’s largest automakers, behind the likes of Toyota and General Motors.

Originally a part of the then-government’s effort to build a strong domestic car industry, Hyundai’s car build quality has also improved immensely over the years, and it has built up a great name for itself in the automobile industry.

According to its website, Hyundai has now become one of the world’s most loved brands. It has built up a wide international reach and has a strong history of providing great vehicles to customers.

Why Is Hyundai So Reliable?

Hyundai has spent a lot of time and effort improving its quality and reliability. Why? Because, like it or not, Korean automakers have been known to be less reliable than Japanese manufacturers.

Toyota, Honda, and Subaru are among the most reliable brands out there, whereas Hyundai, Kia, and Mitsubishi are not as reliable.

However, Hyundai has really stepped up its game in the past few years, and they’ve become a more reliable brand. Let’s talk about how they got there.

The Genesis of Hyundai

Hyundai started life in 1967 with the company Hyundai Motor Company. They made their first car in 1975, which was a luxury sedan.

However, things at Hyundai Motor Company changed for the better with the arrival of Chung Ju-Young as the new CEO. He introduced the world to his philosophy of “The 7 Deadly Sins of Automobile Manufacturing.”

The 7 Deadly Sins were what Chung Ju-Young believed were wrong about how automobiles were made in the 1970s. These included cars that were:

  • Too big
  • Too expensive
  • Too heavy
  • Too slow
  • Too inflexible
  • Too unreliable
  • Too ugly

Chung Ju-Young then launched Hyundai’s own seven deadly sins:

  • Big and ugly
  • Expensive and no value
  • Slow and no power
  • Heavy and no handling
  • Uncomfortable and impractical
  • Unsafe and unreliable
  • Its build quality was bad

From there, he made sure Hyundai would be the exact opposite of those seven deadly sins, which is the reason why Hyundai cars are so reliable today.

Conclusion

So, as you can see, a lot of time, effort, and love was poured into the Hyundai brand. Not too long ago, the brand didn’t hold a good reputation up until the new CEO stepped in. After that, Hyundai has only changed for the better, pumping out high-quality and reliable cars that so many people love and drive today! So, if you’re buying yourself a Hyundai vehicle, you can sit back and relax knowing that, along with the great looks, performance, and comfort levels you’re getting from the car, you’re also getting excellent reliability.
