Which Hyundai Vehicles Can Tow?

Hyundais With The Best Towing Stats

Looking for a vehicle with ample power and torque that offers the best towing capabilities? Our Hyundai vehicles vary on the amount they can tow. Hyundai does not recommend exceeding your vehicle’s load capacity, as this could harm the vehicle’s handling, durability, braking and overall performance.

If you own or thinking of upgrading to an SUV, there’s a good chance you could be towing a trailer or large item in the near future. We recommend one of the following SUVs below for towing.  The list below is the average towing capabilities based on model & trim.

  • Hyundai Santa Fe (2017-2020) has been the most common Hyundai vehicle for towing. The standard 2.4L 4-cylinder offers up to 2,000 lbs of towing capability. Upgrade your Santa to the available 2.0L turbocharged engine & enjoy 3,500 lbs of towing capacity and 260 lb-ft of torque.
  • Hyundai Palisade (2020-2021): Provides lots of power with its 291 horsepower, 262 lbs-ft torque, 3.8L GDI V6 engine, and a towing capability of up to 5,000 lbs.
  • Hyundai Tucson (2018-2021): towing capacity on average is 1,500 lbs. With the available 2.4L GDI engine, 175 lb-ft torque has a 2,000 lbs towing capacity.

Although the Hyundai Kona offers 2.0L MPI 4-cylinder engine, 147 horsepower, 132 lb-ft torque that delivers an enjoyable driving experience, it is not recommended for towing purposes.

As always, we recommend reading your owner’s manual to understand your vehicle’s capabilities better.
