Unique & Innovative Experience: Future Oriented Technologies
Hyundai Motor has introduced notable advancements to the IONIQ 9 to tackle common concerns of EV customers. These include a refined EV Route Planner, improved battery consistency, an enhanced torque control display, a comprehensive energy report feature, and other smart enhancements.
The IONIQ 9 showcases its charge status through green dots on the steering wheel, keeping drivers well-informed. The model is equipped with an AI-enabled voice recognition system akin to a home virtual assistant, which is activated by a button. The system’s status is indicated by dotted indicators for ease of use. These features blend advanced technology with practicality to elevate the EV experience.
Hyundai Motor's innovative Features on Demand (FoD) service is a distinctive offering that enables IONIQ 9 customers to further personalize their vehicles with digital upgrades available from the online store. The FoD products include dynamic lighting patterns when opening the door, a dynamic escort light when closing the door, and content streaming options such as Amazon Music and Soundcloud. The Display Theme feature allows for screen customization with various themes.
Bluelink® Connected Car Services provide seamless connectivity through online voice recognition and a variety of features for a more convenient and enjoyable driving experience. This includes real-time road surface assessments and driving evaluations, as well as a 'Driver Safety Index' based on driver patterns.
IONIQ 9 provides 100W high-output USB-C ports for passengers in the first, second, and third rows.
Unlike traditional USB ports that depend on a 12V battery, IONIQ 9 draws power directly from the high-voltage battery for uninterrupted use. This innovative approach enhances the capabilities of Hyundai Motor’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature, which was previously limited to powering devices within or near the vehicle. The V2L outlet in the cargo area allows users to power and charge electrical devices and appliances through a standard power outlet using the EV’s battery.
IONIQ 9’s infotainment system boasts a 12-inch cluster and a 12-inch integrated monitor seamlessly spanning the panoramic curved display[33]. The standard in-car audio setup includes an eight-speaker sound system, with an available upgrade to a premium BOSE 14-speaker system, offering 5.1-channel surround sound, wireless updates, and advanced BOSE features. Additionally, it features an e-Active Sound Design (e-ASD), which delivers the virtual driving sound of an EV through the audio system.
Peace Of Mind From Standard Advanced Safety Features
IONIQ 9’s reinforced body structure guarantees optimal battery safety by efficiently dispersing collision energy and preserving structural integrity, even during severe electric vehicle accidents. Additionally, the standard inclusion of third-row seat belt pre-tensioners and load limiters across all regions significantly enhances third-row passenger protection in the event of a collision, preventing head collisions with the second-row seats and minimizing head and neck injuries. IONIQ 9 is also outfitted with 10 airbags to further boost safety.
IONIQ 9 is equipped with Hyundai’s latest Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), designed to enhance safety by preventing accidents and simplifying driving tasks. These systems encompass Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2 (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Safe Exit Warning (SEW), Safe Exit Assist (SEA), Rear Occupant Alert, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), High Beam Assist (HBA), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Parking Distance Warning (PDW), and more.
Enhanced Performance & Efficiency: Driver-Centric Technology
IONIQ 9’s column-type shift-by-wire system is seamlessly integrated with the ignition button, offering intuitive operation and maximizing interior space. It delivers haptic feedback when the vehicle is in reverse. The system has been refined for enhanced responsiveness, and the braking system has been upgraded for greater stopping power and efficiency, featuring second-generation regenerative braking control.
The SUV’s Chassis Domain Control Unit boosts driving performance with features like dynamic torque vectoring for better handling and lateral wind stability control for enhanced high-speed stability. The IONIQ 9 also comes with a Terrain Traction Control System for challenging roads and an Auto Terrain Mode[34] that employs AI to identify the road surface and choose the best driving mode.
IONIQ 9 also boasts impressive towing capabilities. In trailer mode, the vehicle automatically senses the trailer's weight and adjusts the predicted range accordingly. This feature ensures a consistent 50:50 front-to-rear motor torque distribution ratio for optimal performance. European IONIQ 9 models can tow up to 2,500 kg, while North American models offer a towing capacity of 5,000 lbs.
IONIQ 9 has been designed to minimize road noise levels, with specific attention to the unique characteristics of EVs. The use of sound-absorbing tires reduces tire resonance while reinforcing the vehicle structure’s stiffness and diminishes low-frequency booming noise when driving on rough roads. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with an Active Noise Control-Road (ANC-R) system for optimal road noise performance.
